Marc Menefee, a sculptor and painter, is a native of El Dorado,
Arkansas. After attending school at the University of Arkansas,
Fayetteville, he moved to Boulder, Colorado to continue his studies in
art. Menefee is influenced by Primative African art, and his interest
in the human form, taken to basic abstract levels. Working with stone
allows the opportunity to blend the natural, organic shapes found in
nature with the contemporary form and ideas of modern art today. His
work in metal creates large-scale figures, in which he seeks to explore
the nature of creation, investigating "nature;s variables".
Intertwining, sequential elements are transformed to create the
effect of continual movement. Menefee's art has been shown in several
art exhibitions and galleries regional, national and international. He
currently maintains a home and studio in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
